Vinesh Phogat Disqualified from Olympic Final Due to 150 Grams Weight Overage

In a heartbreaking turn of events at the Paris Olympic 2024 Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified. She  disqualified from the women’s 50kg freestyle wrestling final due to being 150 grams over the weight limit. Despite her historic achievement of becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final. She was unable to compete for the gold medal. The disqualification came after a grueling attempt to meet the weight requirements, which included extreme measures like cutting her hair and engaging in intense physical activities. Unfortunately, these efforts left Vinesh severely dehydrated, and she was subsequently hospitalized at the Olympic Village’s polyclinic.

Vinesh’s journey to the final had been marked by remarkable victories over top competitors, including the reigning Olympic champion Yui Susaki. However, the intense pressure to maintain weight in the 50kg category. A drop from her usual 53kg class, proved too challenging. This incident highlights the harsh realities of Olympic competition, where even a slight miscalculation can have devastating consequences. Despite the setback, Vinesh’s efforts and determination have been recognized, and her health is currently stable.

Weight management is a critical aspect of wrestling, and any issues related to it can have serious implications for an athlete’s health and performance. Dehydration, often a result of extreme weight-cutting measures, can be particularly dangerous and requires medical attention.

But we appreciate her dedication hardwork towards her game. We all are with you champion and you are the gold for us. You defeated no. 1 player, itself it it the biggest achievement. We all are proud of you best of luck you are the medal for us and inspirations for many.
